Can a landlord require renter’s insurance in Texas?

So my client is about to put his home on the market for rent and he had a very important question I thought I would share with you.

Can he require renter’s insurance in Texas?

The answer is “Yes, as a landlord you can require renter’s insurance in Texas.” Not only is it allowed but it is also a great idea!

It protects him from tenant negligence and ensures that you’re covered if they damage the property.

Who wouldn’t want the protection anyway?

At a cost of fifteen dollars or so a month it may be required by your landlord and it’s always a good idea! For all of your Real Estate needs in the Sugar Land, Richmond and greater Houston area, please contact Angie Farish at 713-907-4877.
